TAMHA Response to Misconduct
Dear TAMHA Members,
We are writing to address recent media coverage regarding allegations of misconduct involving a hockey team currently under investigation in our community. Early reporting referenced the Truro & Area Minor Hockey Association in connection with this matter. We want to clarify that TAMHA is not operationally responsible for all hockey teams that may operate or train in Truro.
Subsequent reporting has/will correct this information, but we recognize that the initial articles may have caused confusion, concern, or distress for our members. While it is important to correct the record, it is equally important to acknowledge the impact on our hockey community. Situations like this can be deeply upsetting, particularly for athletes, families, and survivors of misconduct. Our thoughts are with anyone who may be affected directly or indirectly by this news.
TAMHA remains firmly committed to providing a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all participants in our programs. We take matters of conduct, safety, and well-being seriously and continue to uphold Hockey Canada and Hockey Nova Scotia policies, including mandatory screening, education, and clear reporting pathways.
If any TAMHA families, players, or volunteers are experiencing concern, distress, or simply need support as a result of this situation, we encourage you to reach out. We are available to listen, help direct you to appropriate resources, or answer questions related to TAMHA programs and safeguards. You may contact us confidentially at executive@trurominorhockey.ca.
Thank you for your understanding, your trust, and your continued support of minor hockey in our community. We will continue to communicate openly and responsibly with our membership as appropriate.
Sincerely,
Truro Area Minor Hockey Association
