Important 25-26 Pre-Tryout & Conduct Info

The Truro Area Minor Hockey Association (TAMHA) is pleased to announce important updates for the upcoming 2025–26 season, including the release of new Parent and Player Codes of Conduct and the publication of the 2025–26 Pre-Tryout Information package.

Supporting Players and Families Through Tryouts

The Pre-Tryout Information package provides players and families with a clear overview of the competitive evaluation process, team expectations, fundraising commitments, and new equipment guidelines. TAMHA emphasizes transparency and fairness throughout evaluations, with independent committees overseeing player assessments.

Highlights include:

  • New equipment standards for higher-level rep teams to promote team pride and consistency.

  • Clear expectations for practices, games, travel, and fundraising.

  • Evaluation schedules and criteria for U9 through U18, including U13AAA provincial-level tryouts.

  • TAMHA’s renewed focus on team culture, player development, and long-term athlete growth.

New Parent & Player Codes of Conduct

This season, TAMHA is reinforcing its commitment to a positive hockey environment by introducing mandatory Codes of Conduct for parents and players.

  • Parent Code of Conduct: Outlines expectations around respect, communication, attendance, volunteer support, and responsible use of technology and social media. It also details clear consequences for misconduct.

  • Player Code of Conduct: Sets standards for respect, effort, commitment, sportsmanship, accountability, and discipline—both on and off the ice.

These documents must be reviewed and signed as part of the tryout and registration process, ensuring everyone contributes to a safe, respectful, and team-first culture.

Tryout Registration

If your child is planning to register for tryouts this year, please keep the following in mind:

  • U15, U16, U18 Major and Highschool Tryouts
Players trying out for a U15, U16, U18 AAA, or highschool team must also register for TAMHA tryouts in case they are not successful at those levels. Space and scheduling will not allow late additions to our rosters.

  • U13AAA Tryouts
Players who intend to try out for U13AAA but also wish to be considered for U13AA or U13A must register for those tryouts as well. If a player is successful at the higher level (AAA), they will be refunded for any additional tryout fees.

  • Partner Association Players
Players from eligible partner associations (TMHA, CCMHA, SCMHA, WCMHA) may register for TAMHA tryouts, provided their home association is not hosting a team at the same level. For example, a player from another association wishing to try out for U15AA must first confirm that their home association is not offering a U15AA team.

  • Home Registration Requirement
All partner association players must register with their home association first before participating in TAMHA tryouts. If they successfully make a TAMHA team, they can then cancel their home registration and register directly with TAMHA. Proof of initial home registration will be required.

Time is running out for tryout registrations, so don't wait!  Go to TAMHA Tryout Registration to secure your spot!

Moving Forward Together

TAMHA believes these initiatives will strengthen the hockey experience for all participants by creating a culture of respect, responsibility, and pride in representing the Bearcats.

For full details, please review the posted documents and prepare ahead of this season’s tryouts.
